Northland Group is one of the more regularly discussed pile of barking goat colons doing business as a collection agency discussed on this board. What you are experiencing is vintage Northland Group. They try to collect on an SOL debt, they know it's SOL therefore they lie, fib, prevaricate, B.S. you, and anything else that they think might get them some money.
But you haven't played by their rules. You did not take them at their pus-dripping word. You made inquiry, exercised due dilligence, came away with knowledge from this and other boards. This is why you will prevail and they will not.
And if these belching sweat glands prove sufficiently stupid to sue you, you can countersue for SOL time-barred suit, perhaps malicious prosecution.
