Medical Debt - Addon

In addition to my previous question about the credit report, I believe the entire medical bill to be an individual debt and not a joint debt, regardless of whether we are married.
My wife doesn't work so I'd like to tell them where to go as in cease and desist. I hardly think they would sue against an unemployed person on a $1k 2year old unsecured debt.
Need advice though to be sure they can't include me in as a responsible party.
