Got a phone call from a CA saying that I owe Maryland National Bank little over $2,000. First I said I never heard of that bank. He went on trying to say I was lying to him thin he went on to say that I owe some property in which I do not. Thin he went to threagthing to take my parents property and put lien on it, this where I live with my parents. I am not on the title to the land or the house. He went to imply that I committed a fraud because I got the credit and breach the contract for saying that I will pay it back when I canˇ¦t pay it back... Thin I get this in the mail two days later from the Law Offices of Bryan K Levy 3200 N. Central Ave, Suite 800 Phoenix, AZ 850512 Re creditor: CACV of Colorado LLC Original creditor: Maryland National Bank „˛-bogus inactive/closed A 17 digit account number that is „˛ bogus Amount owed little over $2,000 Then Maryland National Bank has been inactive for more ten years I looked it up on the FDIC web site http://www3.fdic.gov/idasp/main.asp Institution Name City State Class Inactive Date Total Assets Maryland National Bank Baltimore MD N April 29, 1994 13,917,320 Maryland National Bank Baltimore MD N December 31, 1991 12,135,843 I called them as soon after I opened the letter and told that none of the info matched anything that I have. They always say Maryland National Bank that I owed the dept to. One guy did give me the real account number that does match one that I have. But they could have looked it up after they tricked me into giving up my SS# they said it was to verify their account and see which on them is handling the account. I know I messed up big time when I did that but in a way I didnˇ¦t. They say that they change the account numbers for security reasons because they donˇ¦t know who gets my mail and opens it. Thin on the next day I get another letter with all the same stuff on it I am in the state of TX my last payment was in September of 2002. From my understanding they canˇ¦t collect any more than what I owe on the debt except legal fees and their fees in TX. I maybe wrong on this. What all can they really do? I have no money for a lawyer or pay any of the debts I am out of work, my car was reposed I donˇ¦t own any property. I think time is the best thing for me right now, and fight them off them off anyway I can. From what I have read on several different post, forums, and web sites that the CACV, Collect America are some pretty nasty people to deal with and wonˇ¦t stop and any lengths to try and collect the debts. Oh yeah Refinance America, a wholly owned subsidiary Collect America.. Any help/advice would be very much welcomed on this matter and thank you in advance
