Liens from judgments from credit card default

If there's no house, no employment (I mean payroll-type employment), no business -- but stocks (nest-egg!) or other liquid-type [read movable assets] -- then what is the realistic scenario for credit card companies & colloection agencies. Also, do collection agencies have the right to sue after the 'note' has been sold to them from the credit card company? . . . or is it only the original lender who can seek redress via a judgment from a suit?
