I'm hoping for some advice here...Several weeks ago my wife received a letter from JBC & Associates about a NSF check for $233.44. She called back and disputed the check and was told to send in a letter stating that. She did, but I think it was past the 30 days and she didn't keep a copy...so I don't know what she said. Anyway - they called last week and left a message that she needed to call regarding a legal matter...she did and the woman she spoke with wouldn't give her much info and told her that she should do the right thing. When my wife asked to speak to her boss...she was hung up on. My wife called back and finally got someone else on the phone and stated that they had her Driver's License #, etc. to prove it was her check (which she denies writing).
And they told her that she could pay $500 by Western Union before June 30th to clear this up. Today, we received another letter "demanding restituion" for $958.76. The debt is originally from Bradless in New Jersey, and we currently live in Florida.
What can we do? Any and all help is appreciated!
