Several Questions/Looking for Advice (long)

I have several itesm to tackle in my report -- as stated yesterday I am just getting started. So I am prioritizing and trying to attack the most damaging items first.

Anyway, here are my questions:

1. Providian - yep, they hosed me big time. Reported three different times under three slightly different names (one uses "1Provdian" as the company name so it shows at the top of my report! This went to collection (unfortunately) and I paid it in full in early 2002, even after 9/11 and even after I lost my job. I lost all my records on this so I don't have the specifics of my statements. They are showing 7 120 lates and 9 Collections in my monthly payment history! (I was bad but I know it wasn't this bad.) I see notes all over this site and others stating that Providian is a horror show. How bad is it? I mean, I just want to start by requesting records of my statements and rectifying the discrepancies, which will make this better though still terrible. AM I thinking too small here? Should I consider another avenue?

2. Zwicker and Associates - yes, I paid them too, in February 98. But in this case, they agreed to not report me to the CRA's if I paid by a certain date. So I paid, and they did not report me. However, in the credit report I optained afew days ago, they did report me to TU in November 2001. I could dispute the whole thing and hope they honor the original agreement -- which to my eternal stupidity I do not have on file. (I do have the cancelled check for the payment, if it comes to that.) Zwicker are notorious I have learned, and again, I am looking for advice about approach with these guys. They are scary and tough.

3. General Question - I have several department store accounts, long dormant. A few show up as cancelled by creditor (not for poor history, but for non-use). However, all show $0 balances, and two stores even show that I am making current payments to the current day (though I didn't even know these still exist). My thought is to leave them on the report, even with the negative remarks, as they help me show positive current payment history... which given my past, I need. Thoughts?

Sorry for the length, but following WhyChat's advice about keeping everything in one post.

Appreciate all your help. Keep up the good fight, everyone... I know mine will be a long one... :-)
