An earlier post I asked for a good copy of a credit C&D letter for a friend. Its moot now. The credit counselor I recommended is going to hook them up. Someone responded and said that local ones are best. I agree. The one I recommended was local or at least had a local office (they are based out of a city an hour away, same diff in my opinion) As part of their services they will issue the C&D letter certified for free. Their fees? If debt paid off in 2 years, 0. Otherwise they hit you with a $5 a month fee. (I know this to be true because it was the case with my father. He had a student loan deliquent, paid it off over 4 years and after 2 years they did the $5 thing) Also, they were willing to work with them as far as type of payment. They take check, ach draft out of checking, money order, unlike Ameridebt that only did Western Union (and from what I found out the money sent to them "vanished")

Not all credit counselors are scam artists. Some do help.
