8K isn't all that much debt to file bankruptcy over, but its always an option. If the debt is too much for your income, then its too much and bankruptcy may work for you. Just be aware that bankruptcy is a big hit to your credit, but if you've already got a bunch of charge-offs, you can't get a whole lot worse.

I'd worry about Providian, they DO sue !
