Our 7 yrs is up this month, a matter of days, some last month. I understand the OC's have 180 days to collect, so that may mean another 6 months tacked on. Debts were last paid on in 5/96 & 6/96. We still get letters and calls. Not as many. The only times I ever actually spoke to them was when they called work and as soon as I knew who it was I told them never to call me at work again, and it worked, they didn't. Since I still get correspondence from them and don't ans out of area calls, I thought I needed to send SOL. I thought if I didn't send letter they could devil us forever for an unpaid debt even if it dropped off the CR. Is this not right? All CC's were unsecured, Visa, Mastercard, Discover. Paid hospital bills with them, tried to pay for over a year, but finance chrgs ate pmts, so stopped paying. Kept everything else current, need to refinance house and hopefully get a decent car soon. Do I need to wait 30 days (opt'd out last week)to send SOL letters since our SOL was 3 years ago, or can I send them now? I saw 30 days from Why Chat somewhere on this board. I live in Texas. Sorry, I know it probably could have been said shorter and less confusing.
