That said, unfortunately joint accounts also mean joint responsibility. Since your wife had joint responsibility for the account(s), it's also going to show on her credit report (that's why they say to never co-sign on loans with someone you know has financial problems).

I'd try disputing that stuff regardless (it can't hurt)......start with the original creditor, but also go to each of the 3 bureaus. The online disputes are good, but most of your circumstances require more detail than the web sites allow so I would send your letters certified mail return receipt (hard copy proof is always a good thing).
