You're only 3 months behind, AMEX STILL has your account, its only been farmed out to a CA to harrass you for collection. AMEX won't talk to you until and unless you pay them off. Once it goes to charge-off THEN they will sell it to a CA.

AMEX is very nasty. If you can find any way to pay them do so - they will sue.
