Yeah, Lulu,

Bear in mind when dealing with creditor slimebags you have to learn to think like a criminal. Criminals lie constantly in effort to get what you have. This also is just what 'collections professionals' do. Supposedly the car was sold. That's nice, so sez some jamoke. Like WhyChat points out, facts have to be established, this means getting records together.
Maybe the car was 'sold' to a friend who wrote up a phony bill of sale while paying nothing, until things cooled off - in other words after they had the liability for this debt transfered to you by means of misusing the court system. It's done every day as routine business by many people. Collection scum lawyers are past masters at this sort of sleazoid business.
Why sell a car for less than one fifth of its worth? This makes no sense other than for spite, the judgement should be on someone elses horned, scaly back, not yours.
Fight them, question them, demonstrate that you are not to be trifled with. When you prevail over these crumbling dog plops they will put you on their "she's more trouble than she's worth" list which they circulate amongst other 'collections professionals' like Rufus Reitzel and his famed schutzstaffel, Hugh Brett "The Southern Gent" Shafritz and his world-famous F.A. Management Solutions, even the Notorious Big Sherman Acquisitions. After a while word gets around not to mess with you, provided you snap back hard at the first bully and don't stop until they drag their torn bleeding poxy carcass away from you. Don't let these sleazy chivatos, gusanos, and just plain communi'tas get the better of you. They are predators, just like rats, roaches, and Brown Recluse spiders. Treat them accordingly.

Reclusively,

Keyser Soze
