If you last payment was in feb 1998 then the statute of limitations is already up. This means if you are sued you simply show up to court and statute that the statute of limitations is up and you will win. Of course, you will want to bring along the statute proving this. If this credit card is over 4 years old without a payment I would be surprised if the bank actually owns it. You may be dealing with a collection agency who is pretending to work for the bank. This will not remove it from your credit report but does give you legal options.
