I live in MD and have a credit card from Household Bank. I have recently started college and found that I had to limit my hours at work. Because of this I found I could not pay my credit card debt. Its been about 8 months since I stopped paying and now I got a letter from a lawyers office Walpoff and Abramson saying that I owe over $700 on this card when I only had a $300 crdit limit. I really think I should only have to pay the $300 limit back. If I talk to them do you think that they will agree. I went away on vacation for a week and came home to 6 messages from this law firm on my machine. I just don't know what to do. I can't pay $700 but now I can pay the $300 in payments. How can I get them to stop calling me and do you think that its realistic for them to close the debt if the $300 is paid?
