I don't mean to assess risk so I may charge up more debt [before a hypothetical default]. Rather, I mean to assess the situation so I can decide whether to 1.) declare BK; 2.) think about working out a personal payment plan/consolidate debt; 3.) approach the CC companies with an 'on-the-dollar' settlement; or 4.) simply to 'let it go' and face the collectors' tin-pan orchestra -- the last, a legitimate option. My debt now is simply a fait accompli, and paying it all back is beyong the means of my unexpected new circumstances. -- Arma
