Equifax Lying to Me?

For the last 3 1/2 years I've been dealing with debt collectors trying to pin on me, bills that belong to another person in the same city with the same name...even a similar company name.

Anyway, this persons address showed up on my Equifax report on 1/13/2003. I contacted them and disputed it and on 2/12/2003, I received notice that it had been removed.

So this week I take another look and its on my report again. Not sure if it was never taken off or whether it was added again by someone.

I call Equifax and dispute it again. Yes, they claim to have removed it in February and now its back on, but they can't tell me how that happened.

How is that possible? If I dispute it, don't they have to contact the originator during an investigation? Are they just blowing smoke? Should I write a letter forcing the matter? I'm sick and tired of being associated to this other person and I don't want his address on my report. Should I send one of those letters to Equifax that states that the address is bogus and require them to pass on my letter to all creditors inquiring?

Maybe they just are trying to require me to buy one of their services to notify me when anything touches by report.

Any opinions?
