credit card charge offs

I need a major question answered. In February of this year I paid a charge off to a collection agency. I would like to buy a home soon as a first time home buyer. I have been working with a company that has been helping me repair my credit. Is there any hope for me obtaining the American Dream of purchasing a home? Interest rates right now are at an all time low. My friend just bought a home at 4.8%. Because of the charge off, will my interest rate be extremly higher? Plese help! If you know of any mortgage companies that would be willing to help, please let me know. Thank you!
