If you are on public assistance food stamps, Temporary Aid to Needy Families, Section 8 housing, you are entitled to a free report. If you are unemployed and plan on seeking employment in the next few months you are entitled to a free report. If you have been denied credit or had your credit line reduced or your interest rate recently raised due to information on your credit report, you are entitled to a free credit report. Certain states allow one free credit report per year.
