credit report agency and SOL

I called the 3 credit reporting agencies and explained that I had gone through a divorce and had received a Judgement and Final Divorce Decree stating that the debt due to a repossession of a vehicle belonged to my ex-husband. They instructed me to submit copies of this document and would remove the items from my credit report. I received a letter stating the debt was valid and they would not be removing the item, my concern is -> Will this restart the SOL since the credit reporting agencies have contacted the collection agency?
