Were you divorced when the car was repossssed? Were you served the repo papers? Were you served the papers of accounting for the resale? If not, it doesn't matter if you were legally responsible for the original installment loan account or not. If the proper procedures were not followed in the repo according to your State laws and the UCC, you cannot be held responsible for any deficiency.
