Dear Shortstuff;

You and I and many others who post to this board with all too much regularity have something in common. We all hail from Florida which seems to be something of a laboratory proving ground for the kleptocratic thugs in the credit and collections industry.
As Kelly from Nevada state, your wages cannot be garnished if you declare you are head of household. Your home cannot be touched. You have other exemptions.
Most important, this is your debt yet these wingless fruitflies have been calling your boyfriend about this. This is not legal, yet it is typical of the 'rules, what rules?' approach of the 'collections professionals' one finds floating around in one's toilet even after several fiscal flushes.
They have made illegal threats against you by stating that they will garnish your wages. They can't by virtue of where you live. Also, they can't because they've yet to file a suit against you, much less obtained a judgement.
Go to the Federal Trade Commission websitve, ftc.gov, and call their complaint number for FDCPA violations. They people you speak to are always eager to listen to accounts of the type of illegal activity which you describe. They will give you a complaint number, follow up by writing to them, putting the number on all correspondence.
Florida is a two-party consent state as regards taping calls however some FTC reps will tell you to tape these yammering carpet stains whenever they invade the sanctity of your home with their vile phone calls.
Also, write to the FL Division of Banking, dept of consumer protection. There have been some departmental changes of late, going through the FL Attorney General will get you where you need to go.
The more you paper these creeps, the more you sully their putrescent, chancroid, pustulent reputation and as well subject them to government scrutiny.

Also, you send the message that if these dirtbag blackmailers - and from the details of your story that is what they in fact are - want to have some fun for profit by shaking down people, they're better off leaving you alone and bothering someone else.
Do not talk to them anymore, not one word. They have proven that their word is as whale dung, their practices are self-serving and dishonest.
Smash them, burn them, make sure that they come to understand that bothering you in any way shape or form will always and without fail prove to be costly, time consuming, and inevitably resulting in trouble with the government. You can do this all by using every legal tool available, and this board will show you all you need to know.
Don't let these avaricious pigs take another nickel from you. No lie is too audacious, no threat too great for them to state if they believe it will result in decent people turning over money to them. They are avarice defined.

Audaciously,

Keyser Soze

"Avarice and hanging are linked in the ancient and
Medieval mind. Judas Iscariot's name means 'Judas the Asphyxiated...avarice, hanging, self-destruction. 'Io fei gibetto a me de le mie case', - And I, I made my own house be my gallows."
- Adress to the Belle Arti Commission of Dr.
Hannibal Lecter.
