Discover sold two of my accounts at charge off. They never even went into collections. One for $6000 and one for $8000. They try to maximize their return. If there is nothing to get by suing you, they are not going to sue you. Just because they may once have sued somebody for $20 doesn't mean they'll sue you for thousands. I don't know where this "urban legend" started. It seems Capitol One has once sued somebody for $20. They still haven't sued me for $6000. Seems like they purposely sued one person for $20 to develop this myth that they sue everybody to scare others to pay them first. They don't sue everybody.
