Dear Fight Back!! & In Debt; A good place to check out lawyers and their credentials is Martindale.com. In the two pages of attorneys bearing the surname of Mims the only one remotely close is Jerry Mims, who is Assistant Chief General Counsel of the United Mine Workers of America. Not likely he's picking up some extra brie & champagne money by moonlighting for some dirtbag/pimp collection agency. In all probability this jerk who calls himself Jerry M. Mims attorney/collector is just some street thug pulling a fast one. Remember, anyone can call themselves an attorney, it's a good ruse. I am an attorney, you are an attorney, and so forth. You just can't call yourself an attorney at law, nor can you act in the capacity as attorney for someone other than yourself, unless of course you are a lawyer admitted to the bar. You are your own attorney when you represent yourself - pro se - in small claims court. Perhaps the bar association of the state in which this parrot-dropping collection company is headquartered needs a call alerting them to the possibility that shiftless vagrants are hanging around collections firms, calling people on the phone to shake them down for money, and enhancing their chances for success by mis-representing themselves fraudulently as 'attorneys'. All in a good day's work for 'highly trained collections professionals' who 'uphold the highest standards of the industry'". Wonder if this jemoke is any relation to Garnet Mims, remember? Didn't Garnet Mims & the Enchanters have a hit around 1963 with 'Cry, Cry, Baby'? Just a thought. Garnet Mims is probably more of a legally and educationally qualified attorney than the digestive by-product that contacted you with the same name. Digestively, Keyser Soze
