Court awards for violation?????

A credit report is found to be incorrect. And the creditor continues to report incorrectly knowing it is incorrect in regards to late payments. Futher, there is a statement on the report that is incorrect. “Partial payment agreement”.
Question
There is two clear violation of the creditors reporting to the CRAs. But, I see that there are limits as to what the courts can award in dollars. I read that a Max of $5000. can be awarded for each violation. How does this work? Is it one case, with multabull violation a max of $5000. Or one case with two violation = up to $10,000.
