Sherman Acquistion

I was already to buy a car Thursday thinking my credit was in good shape. Sherman Acquisition showed up with an $800 "collecting" from an OSI/Gulf Sprint listed as original creditor. Last time I did business with Sprint was in '97-'98 for a college phone card that was paid and closed. This Sherman Acquisition is listed as October 2002 and never showed up on a single credit report prior (I've received several reports before then), so I strongly believe it is fraudulent and if it's somehow in reference to my previous Sprint account then it's been reaged to make it more damaging. I paid sprint, so I don't owe them anything, but how do I resolve this for bank/phone records from 5 years ago? I read all the past posts on Sherman here and it looks like they have a history of fraudulent claims and re-aging. I dont have the resources to sue or drag this out.

I really wanted to buy this car and I suspect it will sell soon, unfortunately the APR is 15% with this blemish!!

So far the steps I've taken is to file a protest/investigation through Experian's web based credit report.

What more steps should I take to remove this ASAP? (Ideally so I can get this APR lowered to a more reasonable 5%).

Also, do I need to contact the other credit reporting agencies or is Experian sufficient?
