Reading some of the postings here would give you the impression things aren't all that bad. Of course there are no set rules yet sometimes you are less likely to be sued when your debts are massive. After all, it's easy for some scumbag to get you into small shams court for a grand or two, but for eighty?
Also, these consolidation scumpanies are just another way of saying 'vampires'. Caveat debtor.
