SOL on credit card

State: Nebraska
received letter 12/2002 from attorney for Asset Accept. for credit card. Requested validation 1/2003 never heard from until 5/10/2003 received summons. 5/20/2003 filed Answer, Affirmative Defense & Counterclaim. (Thank you Whychat for all your help). 7/7/2003 received call from attorney offering 50% settlement. I said no way past SOL (4 years) last time paid 9/98. He replied you think so, you made payment 1/2001 (never did). He then said he would proceed with case. I said go ahead.
Does a payment restart tolling? Even though I know never made a payment to anyone on this I want to cover my bases.
What do I do next, wait to see if they proceed?
