Send a dispute letter in writing to the Credit Bureau it appears on. Suggest to Providian, in writing that you may have a case for violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Contact your State Consumer Credit Department and let them do the legwork. Ours is part of the Bureau of Banking, and Professional and Financial Regulation.
