Okay...here it goes. In the year 2000, I turned 18. I became "credit happy" and went to Sears and got instant credit in the amount of $4800.00. They had a "going out of business" funiture sell, and I had an empty apartment and charged up $4400.00 in furniture Anyways, I've paid on this account a couple of times. At on time I even paid $1500.00 on it. Their interest rates are so high, it seemed like my balance was not going down enough. At this time, I also was paying for school out of pocket. Anyways, I stopped paying on the bill around 2/2002. Sears only wanted to talk to me when I had the money in my hand, which I can kind of understand. Now they have sent it to a CA, who is harrassing me. The guy told me to get off of welfare! Too bad I did not have a tape recorder...they'd be paying me!!! Anyways, I should have the money to pay Sears at the beginning of September, but like I said- they would not talk to me when I called a while back because I did not have the money. Should I wait to call Sears at the end of August? Or should I pay the collection agency? They said $4000.00 on the letter, but the ignoramous a talked to said that was no longer an option and I had to pay the full amount. I figure if I have to pay the full amount, I should just try to deal with Sears directly. Here are more questions:
1. When I do pay them off, will I be able to get this removed from my credit? 2. How can I reestablish my credit? 3. How long does it usually take before something is reported as a charge-off?
