Have a debt that was sold. It seems an attorney bought the debt. Phoned my on 6/26 and wanted $5k to settle by 6/30 (original debt $10k). Don't have $5k. Gave us a hardship offer of 970.00a month for June, July & August. First 970 due by 6/30. Willing to pay but we had to borrow from 401K and would not have money until 7/14. Attorney orginally agreed to $2700.00 on 7/11 and then make arrangements to make a monthly payment in september. 6/27 they called back and said our payment arrangement was deined. They wanted 2500.00 a month for June, July, August. Told them we don't have that kind of money. They told us they didn't care that we were to call our family and get the money from them. I told them we would not do that and that was the end of the conversation. Forgot to mention that one of the very first conversations I had with them I was told that if we did not pay they would take us to court, garnish our wages, take my house and any other property they could. Have been advised by several people to file a complain with my State Attorney Generals Office. Not even sure I have a question to ask in all this. But does anyone have any helpful feed back. The money we got from the 401K we are using to pay some other creditors off. I just don't know why they would not deal with us.
