charge offs???? ladynred, whychat....xperts!!!

hi, this is a question about fdic or federal banking laws... can anyone point me in the right direction of a "law" or some sort of legal requirement of creditors to charge off bad accounts after 180 days???

can they wait as long as they want? can they do it sooner?

i am seeing some confusion about this in some other boards...

any help would be great!!! thanks.
