What you need to do is send the collection agency a validation letter. Since the original creditor has already told you that he has no proof, then the collection agency won't be able to validate it. Be sure to send your validation letter via certified mail return receipt and when you get the green card back in the mail, dispute it again with the CRA. You may be able to get the collection agency on FCRA violations and use that to your advantage.
