What can I do about a 12 year old CC debt?

I had Discover 12 years ago and ended up with a deliquent account. They stopped contacting me for the debt about 8 years ago. About 7 years ago it was sold to an agency, then another. This group, Midland Credit, has called me repeatedly. They claim the debt is not out of the SOL and they'll just keep tapping my credit report until I pay them. The account was charged off by Discover 8 years ago. So, what can I do here to rid myself of this scum known as Midland Credit? Thanks
