I cannot reccomend an attorney, but I can make another suggestion - before paying off an old debt, negotiate for complete removal from your report. You only have the leverage to do this BEFORE the ca is paid. If you need more details on this procedure, the nice folks here will help, but I suggest reading through the archives first.
