CC Debts, NCO, and I just need help

I happened onto this site by sheer accident and so glad I did. Here is my situation: I live in Texas to start off with. My husband and I got ourselves into credit card debt. I work from home building and selling websites. Since 9/11 MY income is next to nothing, small businesses are afraid to invest into websites at this time. My husband makes enough to meet our bare necessities. Back in Oct of 2002 I was only able to pay about 20.00 on each of my cc bills. I have not been able to even do that since then. One of our CC Companies sent our account to NCO Financial for collection. I have not received any letters from them, only phone calls. The guy is very rude. Since I work from home I have a message on my answering machine stating my business name and that I am with another client or currently on the other phone (to sound professional). This guy leaves messages that go to the effect of "hummmmm, so, got your own business, well isn't that something. If I were someone looking to do business with a company, I would be checking out there background, You better call me". Anyway to make a long story short, I am now, after reading some of the other posts on here about NCO, severly afraid of getting sued or having a judgement filed on me and my husband. WHAT really concerns me also is this: I have a 84 year old mother that has placed some assets in my name in case she has to go into the hospital or something of that nature so I can take care of paying her bills and such. This is not my money. I would hate for anything to happen to her life saavings for me not being financially able to take care of my probelms. Can anyone give me some insight on what can happen to me. Thanks so Very Much in advance. This is just making me sick to my stomach.
