Why? Why? Why?
Because they can. They can. They can.

There is no general sympathy in America for folks who miss their bills, as evidenced by the three quarters majority favoring bankruptcy reform. The credit industry has done a fantastic job of selling America on the “Bankruptcy Tax.” You know, that figure of $400 per family cost by those “evading” their obligations filing bankruptcy. A better PR yarn has never been spun. What’s truly amazing is that we have FDCPA in the first place.

Banks are in the business of lending money and making profits on interest and fees. They are not good collection agents since they have too many legal liabilities in violating collection laws. They won’t offer you the same terms as they sell the debts, since this would “encourage” too many people to “Game” the system. So they basically give away the debt to some outfit that will make your life a living hell in order to “scare straight” any other folks thinking of defaulting. So, yes, this is being done to “punish” you.

Now the CA’s are nothing more than straight line extortionists. Their deal is to apply enough pressure (pain) to you in order for you to pay up. Simple. Tag your credit with inquiries, multiple tradelines, verbal abuse, all part of the Pain.

Welcome to collections hell. You’ll find much sympathy on this board. Amongst the majority of your fellow Americans, all you’ll hear is “Pay your damn bills.”
