How long do I have?

I am planning Chapter 7,but have not been able to save all the money needed for the lawyer. I had a consult with him, he said I definately qualify for a straight Chapter 7. I last paid cc in March, a few in April. Two of the cards Providian and Merchants direct have over 8000 balances. DMB has just turned me over to Risk Management. How long do I have to save the money before they sue? What will happen if they sue before I get the money for BK? I have no assets, but work in NC I dont think they allow garnishment for cc debt.
