I recently just bought a house and my mortgage was approved under the condition that I pay off two accounts that are listed under my credit report as charge offs. The problem I'm having is that both accounts were included in a chapter 7 bankruptcy that was discharged 7 years ago and never taken off of my credit report. I don't really understand what a charge off is. My mortgage broker needs a letter of satisfication from both cc companies but I'm getting the run around. What are my rights and how do I go about getting both charge off's off my credit report?
