I received a call from NCO in May regarding a debt I owed to NextCard. I had previousy hooked up with a Debt Consolodator and thought Nextcard was getting paid. The kid from NCO was very rude, using terms like "How does your wife feel marrying a guy who cant pay his bills", etc... If we were face to face, that would have been the last thing he said but I guess his phone is bigger than mine? Anyway, he told me I owed $1200 or he could settle on one lump sum of $800. I stated I couldnt afford that and asked if I could make payments. His reply was "Scott, we collect debt, were not a finance company!" and then went on to make it sound like they needed payment in full or legal action would occur. I just (7/9) rcvd a letter stating the client (Nextcard) agreed to accept $800 as a lump sum. My question is, if I send in a payment for $50 via money order, do they have to accept that as attempt of repay or can they still take further action. I do agree to pay $50-$100/month but that is all I can afford. Someone with info please email me.
