It is NOT obsolete, with a DOLA of 4/98, the derog will stay until 4/2005 - the required 7 years.

Opting out will prevent the CRA's from selling your information to whoever - that WILL stop 99% of the pre-approved credit card offers as well as other credit-related junk offers.

The 2 entries, one by the OC and one by Palisades is perfectly legal. One is the original, the other a collection.
