Tell her to send you the proof that it has gone to legal action. I doubt anyone would take it to small claims court, it would cost them more in legal fees than what the debt is worth. Sounds like she might just be trying to get money out of you. Of course if she said you forged the check that would be different for the legal actions, but then they would be after you and not her. Don't take her word on it. And check and see if you can record legally in your state. If so, get her on the phone and get her to talk about what really happened and record it. Keep her emails too, just incase you need them down the road. And buddy, 150.00 for a 35.00 bounced check does not seem right at all. At most it should have been maybe 65.00. That would be 35.00 to cover the actual check amount, 30 for the banks nsf fee. Didn't you get a nsf fee from the place where you cashed the check? Normally it would be a nsf fee from both places at no more than 30.00. I think she is taking you for a ride. Get the proof that it even bounced in the first place.
