Also the account shows on my credit report a s charged off in Aug of 1998 with the high balance still outstanding. Will this clear from my credit report in 7 years even if I do not pay the balance? And shouldn't it clear 7 years from the date of the first delinquency instead of the actual charge off? This was all from NY between Aug of 1996 and Aug of 1998. I will be trying to get a mortgage in a year and am trying to fix my credit.
