WI is a community property state, CT, where the poster is, is NOT a community property state. Even if it were, if she owned the house in her own name PRIOR to her marriage, it would still be considered separate property, not community and would STILL be hands-off to any creditor seeking a judgment.

Community property states have exceptions built in, everything is NOT automatically 50/50 just by virtue of a marriage license.
