My son recently graduated from college and has accrued about $11,000 in credit card debt on 4 cards along with about $11,000 in student loans which have just started to require payments be made. He just got his first fulltime job and he's making about $26K. He's been driving around with an expired tag and no car insurance until I convinced him this was sheer insanity. Between his rent, car insurance, electric and food - he is struggling to keep up even the minimum payments on the credit cards. What can he do, short of filing bankruptcy, to get a little breathing room while he tries to get on his feet? He worked his way through school and is a good kid who is making himself crazy over this debt. He is having trouble sleeping and I don't want to see it jeopardize his first job! Any advice from someone who has been there and lived through it would be helpful. Thanks-
