Make sure he has a budget that leans towards austere. He needs to cut out all unnessary spending and, quit charging.
Then, see if he can get a pt job and just dedicate those earnings to reducing his cc debt.
He needs to break the cards down by interest rate. The ones with the lowest rates get the mimimum payments. The one with the highest rate gets paid every spare nickel he can scrape together. Just keep doing that and in 6 months, he likely will have this under control.
