Being sued for old CitiBank acct

I recently received letter from a lawyer's office in Houston threatening lawsuit on old CitiBank acct. I did some checking and the SOL on this acct. will run out in October of this year. Recently I was able to pay off another CitiBank account, but am unable to pay any more. Does this sound to you like this is just a last-ditch effort to collect before SOL runs out, or will they most likely sue? I suppose my paying the other acct. off raised a flag. Any suggestions on how to handle would be appreciated.
