Did the "check" bounce or did you stop payment on it ?

Stopping payment on it is your call, its not the same as a bounced check or a fraudulent check. They 'law firm' is trying to scare you. Don't fall for it. In order to prevail they have to prove criminal intent - in court - and its unlikely they can do so.

Oh -- a TX lawyer says that the garnishment BS you signed won't supercede TX law.
