I have an outstanding College tuition balance that dates back to 9/98. The College has turned it over to a credit agency. The credit agency did not want to give me favorable terms for the repayment. My question is since this is not a student loan, but a remaining tuituin balance that was unfortunatly not covered by student loans, because of a mix up. Should I wait and do nothing. My understanding is that the statue of limitations in New York is 6 years for any type of debt besides bankruptcy. If I start to pay it I could prolong the information in my credit file. It has not been reported to the creit agency as of yet.
