I have walked away from about $15K worth of debt. Get away with it? Yes, of course I got away with it. I didn't get sued, if that is what you mean. I did not own property or have any assets, though. It was 10 years of pure hell and embarrassment. Everyone runs credit reports now, all banks when you open a checking account, rental car companies, insurance companies, employers .... you risk a lot by just walking away and not dealing with it, more than you'll ever know, and will regret it, I assure you.
