As criminals so frequently do, it sounds as if these vermin are trying to admit they have a defective case. WhyChat alludes to this point, worth considering.
They might be trying to bluff you with this Affidavit courtesy of the Plaintiff's agent. USually with these greasebag collectors it's the other way around. They submit documents of questionable origin and veracity with no supporting affidavit. Here, they are submitting an affidavit without the document and the court is supposed to take the word of this "Agent".
They can appear telephonically - this stinks but hey, this is the 'new economy' - while you must show up. But sooner or later they will have to appear and present this 'affidavit'. By introducing this "agent" character they've opened the door perhaps to your filing to request his appearance. Otherwise, for all the court knows this is just some collection agency backroom bozo gassing off some phony papers.
An interesting trick perhaps, keep in touch. Maybe this is one of the 'advanced collection techniques' taught by the masters, Hugh Brett Shafritz, Esq. and partner, Mitchell Andrew Dinkin, Esq., of Delray Beach, FL, during their weekend paid seminars. "Advanced" here perhaps synonymous with 'thin ice', 'questionable', 'dubious', 'hollow', and other similarly descriptive terms of art.

Artfully,

Keyser Soze
